STARS - another new composition for Baritone (or Euphonium) and Harp (or Piano)

STARS - another new composition for Baritone (or Euphonium) and Harp (or Piano)

As we have just gone back into Level 3 lockdown in Auckland I decided to release another one of my new compositions for baritone (or euphonium) via YouTube and Facebook as the chance to premier it in public anytime soon looks very unlikely.

This one is called Stars and is for Baritone (or euphonium) and harp or piano (it works equally well with either). Click HERE to go to the video.

The inspiration behind this composition was sitting out one summer night in Auckland seeing the stars in the night sky towards the end of last year (2019). We were later lucky enough to spend a couple of nights away at a very quiet and picturesque bach (cottage) with no TV but surrounded by some amazing country and sea views, which is where I found the inspiration to finish the piece.

It's about 4 and a half minutes long and can be played on a 3 or 4 valve instrument, the lowest note being one low F#, and the highest being a couple of high C#s.

The actual recording probably isn't the greatest, I even left in a couple of blips but I found it quite difficult to play along to a computer that has no sense of musicality or rubato :-) Nevertheless I hope you like it.

The music is available for download from the website shop HERE.
